Brian Lies is the author and illustrator of the New York Times bestselling children's books Bats at the Beach and Bats at the Library. Most recently Bats at the Library was also named Indie Bound's Best Picture Book of 2008.

Brian Lies was born and raised in Princeton, New Jersey. He attended Brown University, studying psychology and literature. After graduating, Brian decided to purse his childhood interest in art. He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston before beginning a career in political illustration. His award-winning work appears regularly in children’s magazines and galleries around the country. In his free time, Brian’s hobbies include bicycling, woodworking, and tending a big vegetable garden behind the house. He also enjoys reading a lot, as it keeps his imagination going! Brian Lies currently lives on the South Shore of Massachusetts with his wife and daughter.
