Wayne Hammond is a librarian at the Chapin Library of Rare Books at Williams College in Massachusetts. His most recent work, The Art of the Hobbit, was co-edited by Hammond's wife, Christina Scull. Hammond also collaborated with Scull to write J.R.R. Tolkien: Artist and Illustrator, Lord of the Rings: A Reader's Companion, and the two-volume J.R.R. Tolkien Companion and Guide. Hammond earned his BA degree from Baldwin-Wallace College and a MA degree in library science from the University of Michigan. Hammond is a five-time winner of scholarship awards from the Mythopoeic Society.
