Susanne Freidberg's interest in food production and distribution started on a trip to Africa when she was in her twenties. Since then, Freidberg--who is a professor of geography at Dartmouth College--has followed a variety of foods on their farm-to-market journeys around the world. She blogs about food history and the food supply for such sites as Freakonomics and The Huffington Post, and her research culminated in the book Fresh: A Perishable History. The Guardian (UK) calls Fresh "a fascinating picture of our changing views of perishable food."
