Sugata Mitra is a physicist, computer scientist, and researcher in education and learning. He is a Professor of Educational Technology at the School of Education, Communication, and Language Sciences at Newcastle University, UK. His most famous project is the Hole in the Wall Experiment, in which he embedded a computer in a wall in a slum in Delhi, and proved that children, regardless of their level of educational attainment, can teach themselves how to use computers. The project inspired the novel and movie Slumdog Millionaire and has led to new thinking about how children learn. Mitra is currently a visiting professor at the MIT Media Lab.
