Nick Bilton is the Lead Technology Writer for The New York Times Bits Blog and a reporter for The New York Times. His new book, titled I Live in the Future & Here's How It Works captures the zeitgeist of an emerging age, providing the understanding of how a radically changed media world is influencing human behavior.
Nick has worked in numerous different industries within the context of design, research & development, technology and storytelling. Prior to his time as a reporter Nick held the role of Design Integration Editor for The New York Times and the User Interface Specialist & Researcher for The New York Times Research & Development Lab, where he worked on a variety of research projects, exploring technologies that could become commonplace in the next decade.
His work in the R&D Labs included prototyping content and interaction on futuristic flexible digital displays, a vast array of mobile applications and devices, the creation of the Times Reader 2.0, Print-to-mobile SMS & Semacode, data visualization and context aware sensors.
Nick is also an Adjunct Professor at NYU / ITP teaching two courses called "1, 2, 10," & ŒTelling Stories with Data, Sensors and Humans'.
Outside of The Times, Nick helped co-found NYCResistor, a hardware hacker space in Brooklyn, NY which offers hardware and programming classes and allows people to collectively work on innovative open source hardware and robotics projects.
