Michael Palmer was educated at Harvard and is an award winning poet now living in San Francisco. He seeks to challenge the way that the reader views language and its uses. He also translates poetry and assists in contemporary dance productions. Palmer is the recipient of numerous awards, including two grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship, and the Shelley Memorial Prize from the Poetry Society of America. He also served as the chancellor of the Academy of American Poets from 1999 to 2004. His new book of poetry, Thread, covers a vast array of subjects, from language to war.
