Michael Ondaatje is the Booker Prize-winning author of The English Patient, which was also made into the Academy Award-winning film of the same title. His other prize-winning novels include In the Skin of a Lion, Anil's Ghost, and Divisadero, and he has also published works of poetry, memoir, and criticism. Born in Sri Lanka, Ondaatje emigrated to the UK and later to Canada. He is now a Canadian citizen. Experimental structure, postmodern sensibilities, and themes of national identity and personal history permeate his work. His new novel, The Cat's Table, has been called by Kirkus Reviews "beautifully detailed, without a false note."
