Matthew Battles is an author, blogger, and short fiction writer who labels his style of storytelling as "dreampunk." His first book, Library: An Unquiet History, explores the history and nature of the library from the ancient to the Internet. His articles have appeared in the American Scholar, the Atlantic Online, the Boston Globe, and Wilson Quarterly, and he is a contributing blogger at HiLobrow.com. According to publisher Red Lemonade, his latest collection of short fiction, The Sovereignties of Invention, explores "the uncanny magic of technology, memory, meaning, and time."  Battles is currently a program fellow at Harvard's Berkman Center for Internet and Society and a senior researcher at metaLAB.
