Madeleine Kunin is a former Vermont state legislator, lieutenant governor, and governor of Vermont. She was the first woman to serve three terms as governor of any state and the fourth woman to be elected governor in her own right. Kunin was the U.S. ambassador to Switzerland from 1996-1999 and the U.S. deputy secretary of education in the Clinton administration. She is presently the Marsh Scholar Professor-at-Large at the University of Vermont in Burlington, the president of the board of the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC), and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. Her latest book, The New Feminist Agenda, was published in May of 2012.
