Kadir Nelson is an award-winning American artist whose work has been featured by Sports Illustrated, The Coca-Cola Company, The United States Postal Service, and Major League Baseball. He has also created concept artwork as a visual development artist for Dreamworks pictures Amistad and Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron. Nelson is also the artist of several children's picture books, including Will Smith's Just the Two of Us, which earned him an NAACP Image Award; Heart and Soul: The Story of America and African Americans; and We Are the Ship: The Story of Negro League Baseball. His work on children's books has earned him two Caldecott Honors and four Coretta Scott King Awards. His newest book, I Have a Dream, combines his artwork with Martin Luther King, Jr.'s famous speech.
