Joan Houlihan is the author of four books: Hand-held Executions: Poems & Essays; The Mending Worm; The Us; and Ay, which will be released in 2013. The Mending Worm was the winner of the Green Rose Award from New Issues Press. Many of Houlihan’s poems have appeared in journals, including Poetry, Boston Review, Harvard Review, and Gettysburg Review. She has taught in Columbia University’s MFA in Creative Writing Program, Emerson College’s Writing, Literature, & Publishing Program, and as a faculty mentor at Lesley University’s MFA in Creative Writing Program. She is the founding director of the Concord Poetry Center in Concord, Massachusetts, where she also teaches.
