Howard Bryant
Bryant Howard is a regular contributer on on ESPN.com, ESPN The Magazine and NPR's Weekend Edition, and he'll be prominently featured in Ken Burn's two-part baseball documentary, "The Tenth Inning," airing in September. The Last Hero has been receiving raves from coast to coast— from San Francisco to Boston, New York to Washington. It's been called "a first-rate biography," "beautifully written and culturally important," "illuminating and rigorously researched," "an epic baseball tale," "a classic" and "one of the most impressive profiles of a ballplayer in years."
Howard has Boston roots to boot— he's a former writer for the Boston Phoenix and author of Shut Out: A History of Race and Baseball in Boston.
