Fiction: Truth and Consequences

2:30pm Boston Public Library Rabb Auditorium 700 Boylston Street

In this session, three gifted novelists peer behind the headlines and into the human heart. Acclaimed author Ha Jin presents Nanjing Requiem, a story about the Japanese occupation that is both epic and intimate. Jennifer Haigh, in Faith, possibly her best novel yet, describes the intersection of public and private tragedy. And in her  “enchanting” debut novel, The Language of Flowers, Vanessa Diffenbaugh’s heroine finds human connections difficult after a childhood spent in foster care. Moderated by editor-in-chief of Ploughshares and author of A Sandhills Ballad, Ladette Randolph.
