David Elmer has been an assistant professor in the department of classics at Harvard University since 2007. He has conducted research in Zagreb, Croatia, and most recently has focused his research on the Homeric poems, the ancient novel, and South Slavic oral epic song. Elmer currently teaches courses in Greek literature at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at Harvard and is working on a book about consensus in the Iliad entitled The Poetics of Consent: Collective Decision-Making and the Iliadic Tradition.
