Charles Bracelen Flood is the author of Grant's Final Victory, as well as other books about the Civil War, including 1864: Lincoln at the Gates of History. His short pieces have appeared in The New Yorker, Atlantic Monthly, Esquire, and other magazines, and his book Rise, and Fight Again: Perilous Times Along the Road to Independence won the American Revolution Round Table Award. He is a past president of the American Center of PEN, the international writers' organization, and he has served on the governing bodies of the Authors League and the Authors Guild.
