John Hockenberry

John Hockenberry is a four-time Emmy award-winning journalist who currently hosts The Takeaway, a morning news program created by Public Radio International in coordination with The New York Times, BBC World Service, WNYC and WGBH Boston.  He is also the host of The DNA Files, a public radio series which explores the field of genetics, and its societal impact and implications. 

Hockenberry worked at NPR for 15 years, as a general assignment reporter, often covering the Middle East, in addition to hosting many programs. He served as a correspondent for the ABC newsmagazine “Day One”, earning his first Emmy award while working there. He is also a contributor to NBC’s Dateline.  He has written two books Moving Violations: War Zones, Wheelchairs and Declarations of Independence and A River Out of Eden.
